Healio: PAD Awareness Month calls attention to amputation risks, screening, treatments

September is Peripheral Artery Disease Awareness Month, designed to improve access to screening and treatments for patients with PAD.


According to the CardioVascular Coalition, approximately 20 million Americans have PAD, and about 200,000 patients per year undergo avoidable amputations. Many of these patients are from historically underrepresented backgrounds, according to the coalition.
